Education, knowledge transfer, outreach
We are developing various formats and programmes to strengthen and further develop the culture of remembrance in Lower Saxony.

In Lower Saxony, there are memorials with educational programmes at the sites of former concentration camps, prisoner-of-war camps, workers' educational camps, forced labour camps and forced labour sites, places where the sick were murdered ("euthanasia"), prisons and cemeteries. There are also documentation and learning centres at sites of Nazi propaganda and the Nazi regime's self-presentation. Educational programmes at Lower Saxony's places of remembrance consist of exhibitions, guided tours, study days and seminars. They are aimed at schoolchildren and adults. We support, promote and network the mediation and education work of Lower Saxony's memorial sites, e.g. in the target group-specific development and dissemination of educational programmes. We also offer advice on the development and organisation of educational concepts, projects and events.

Once or twice a year, the Foundation offers colleagues working in education and knowledge transfer at places of remembrance of Nazi history in Lower Saxony a forum for networking, further training and peer-to-peer dialogue in the form of workshops. In addition, we offer event-related training for employees of places of remembrance of the Nazi era on topics related to their field of work. We are happy to receive suggestions and requests in this regard.

The "Lower Saxony Memorials Development department" organises regular conferences on aspects of Lower Saxony's Nazi history, which are aimed at researchers, employees of places of remembrance as well as activists from history initiatives and other interested parties. Recent research and reports from individual projects are presented here. Throughout the year, our "GFN-Jour-Fixe" series offers a digital format for exchange and further training (with advance registration). The events cover a wide range of topics from Nazi history, its pre- and post-history to contemporary issues. We also organise conferences and workshops together with partners on specific occasions.

In order to promote and further develop the culture of remembrance related to the Nazi era in Lower Saxony, the "Lower Saxony Memorials Development department" also addresses the wider public with its programmes. In addition to historical aspects of Nazi history, topics related to the culture of remembrance and the present are also addressed. We address these in the form of events, educational holidays and excursions, also in cooperation with other partners. We are happy to receive suggestions and requests in this regard.
