The staff of the "Lower Saxony Memorials Development Department" are available as competent contacts for places of remembrance, associations and initiatives, academics and interested individuals, Monument Conservation authorities, local authorities and educational organisations. We are happy to support you in all matters relating to the reappraisal, documentation, research and communication of Nazi history.

What we do

We are happy to support you in all matters relating to the reappraisal, documentation, research and communication of Nazi history.

We also research and publish on the history of Nazi history in the state of Lower Saxony, its prehistory and consequences as well as its international connections. We co-operate with research institutions and archives within the framework of projects. Our focus is on prisoners of war, perpetrator research, the history of justice, Nazi settlement policy, the relationship between camps and the surrounding population and the war-related intertwining history between Germany and countries in Asia and Africa. A central concern in the coming years will be to facilitate new research collaborations by digitally cataloguing our archival collection and developing formats for a digital culture of remembrance.

Our library and archival collection are open to all interested parties.
